THINKING OUTSIDE THE WOOD BOX

A unique characteristic of the Cambria Suites guestroom is the architectural room divider separating the work/living area of the room from the sleeping area. It features a sleek black design showcasing sculptures and artwork (see photo). Installing this divider according to Choice Hotels’ specifications was easier said than done, however.

Their specs called for “no caulk, no trim” at the ceiling and half-wall joints and a clean, straight appearance. In the original design, each and every divider would have had to be fabricated individually by carpenters in the room to meet these demands. Our team created a divider meeting the specifications that included elevator bolts, a system where the bottom panel of the divider could be raised and lowered upon installation. The dividers could be pre-constructed before being brought on site, thus protecting them from damage and saving more than $25,000 in time and labor expenses.

Consolidated exceeded our expectations not once, but on two separate occasions, bringing the Cambria Suites and MainStay Suites of Rapid City to successful conclusions with on-time grand openings. I was especially pleased with the quality, fit, and finish of our projects and project management was second to none.
