Construction Jobsite Safety Protocols Leads to Safer Worksites

Safety

Culture of Safety
Consolidated Construction incorporates construction jobsite safety protocols into every project, and uses methods developed by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in their Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP). We assign Managers and Supervisors direct responsibility for safety compliance and training. Our work sites and equipment are inspected regularly, and all employees are trained to prevent and eliminate safety hazards. For 2022, we have been recognized with the prestigious Gold STEP designation.

Site Specific Safety Plans
We formulate a site-specific safety plan for every project, and the plan is reviewed with project management and participants before a shovel ever hits the dirt. “Tool Box Talks” are held weekly, where a safety topic is reviewed with field personnel at the work site, and subcontractors are given specific safety instructions related to the worksite in additional weekly meetings.

Our work sites are regularly inspected by our on-staff Safety Manager to ensure compliance with safety protocols. Inspection items include conducting a 105-point inspection summary in 16 job areas, covering:

  • Hazards and potential hazards
  • Upcoming activities and hazards associated with these activities

  • New materials, equipment, and tools
  • Fall protection, rigging, welding, scaffolding, housekeeping, fire protection, and more
