Appleton, Wis. (10/28/2026) – Consolidated Construction Co., Inc., names Fox Valley Lutheran High School junior, Yahan Zhou, the winner of their second annual Consolidated for a Cause art Contest. Her artwork earns a central role in the company’s 2027 charitable campaign.
As Consolidated Construction prepares for the fifth year of its flagship charitable initiative, Consolidated for a Cause, the Appleton-based design-build firm invited high school students to create original artwork inspired by the themes of hope, resilience, and community.
This year, Consolidated for a Cause will support the Autism Society of Wisconsin, the North Dakota Autism Center, and the Autism Society of the Black Hills. Zhou’s winning submission will serve as the visual identity for the 2027 campaign and help raise funds directly when the original artwork is auctioned at Consolidated’s annual fundraiser in March.
“In my artwork, I wanted to portray an autistic child with the innocence and strength of childhood, looking upward toward the warmth of the sun while rain falls around him in an orderly pattern,” Zhou said of her inspiration. “The two hands above him represent community; a source of care, protection, and support. They do not block his view of the light because community is not about deciding where someone should go, but about being there with them.”
Zhou also said she enjoyed creating the piece because it gave her an opportunity to learn more about autism and reflect on the importance of acceptance and community support.
Consolidated Construction launched the student art contest last year as a way to pair local student creativity with the mission of Consolidated for a Cause. Following the success of the first two contests, the company plans to continue the program in future years, giving young artists an opportunity to showcase their talents while supporting meaningful causes.
Community members are encouraged to join Consolidated Construction in supporting the Autism Society of Wisconsin, North Dakota Autism Center, and Autism Society of the Black Hills through the 2027 Consolidated for a Cause campaign.
