MOTT-REGENT PUBLIC SCHOOL
Bringing Two Communities Together
When Consolidated was retained in the fall of 2014, the Mott-Regent Public School District was facing many significant challenges, having their community say “not yet” to two previous referendums. The district was caught in a desperate situation: their 100-year old elementary building became very costly to operate, couldn’t meet today’s 21st century learning needs, and impeded their efforts to attract and retain talented teachers.
Consolidated provided the resources and leadership to allow Mott-Regent to gain consensus among voters, facilitating dozens of citizen meetings and developing new plans that would meet the needs of both communities. Their third referendum was successful, and now students and staff are enthusiastic to learn in a modern K-12 facility.
NORTH DAKOTA SAFETY COUNCIL
The North Dakota Safety Council is a private,
non-profit organization committed to promoting
safe work practices throughout the state. Serving thousands each year, their training and education programs deserved a world-class facility where NDSC staff could reach more people with a new and expanded lineup of safety courses taught in
a more memorable way.
Consolidated’s team first assisted NDSC in master planning, developing a phased approach to capital improvements that would meet their budget and fundraising requirements. Phase I of the new NDSC campus includes a nearly 5,000 square foot hands-on training lab featuring a rescue tower and equipment to be utilized during high-level fall protection, confined space rescue, rope rescue and safe scaffold assembly courses. The facility will also incorporate distance learning, a 30-person computer lab, equipment simulators and mobile training units. During Phase II a dirt floor arena and community room will be added to train on heavy equipment and host community safety events.
SWIFT HOSPITALITY GROUP
Rebirth of a Landmark
Nearly 11 years after it closed, a former Normal, IL hotel is now open to new life. The property, which was a former Holiday Inn, Sheraton and Staywood Inn before closing in 2006, was gutted down to the concrete by Consolidated Construction and is now an updated, full-service 158-room hotel with 12,000 feet of conference space and restaurant. Thanks to the vision of Swift Hospitality Group, residents and the City of Normal welcome the transformation of this community landmark and the economic boom that accompanies it.
