3/2019 New Courtyard by Marriott Under Construction at I-90 & Elk Vale Road
Rapid City, S.D. – Consolidated Construction Co. Inc., a full-service design/build firm based in Rapid City, has begun construction on a new four-story, 174-room Courtyard by Marriott at I-90 Exit 61 just east of Rapid City. The project is owned by Atlantis, LLC and the property will be managed by LIV Hospitality.
The 109,142 sq. ft. hotel boasts a prime location off Elk Vale Road directly across from the popular Black Hills destination, WaTiki Indoor Waterpark. Guests will be provided with discounted admission passes and shuttle service to and from the waterpark. Courtyard by Marriott will eventually connect to the new Box Elder convention center, which is currently under construction.
A popular brand for business travelers, Courtyard by Marriott features five spacious meetings rooms, a fully equipped business center, and space to unwind by the fire on the patio. The onsite Bistro Bar offers cocktails, beer, wine, breakfast, entrees and appetizers. Thoughtfully designed guestrooms help guests refresh and recharge with plush bedding, flexible workspaces, and fast and free WiFi.
“This is the third hotel that we’ve built for Atlantis, LLC in this complex at Box Elder, along with the Residence Inn by Marriott and the Home 2 Suites by Hilton,” said Paul Ver Voort, Consolidated Construction’s Project Director for this effort. “The Courtyard by Marriott property features the new prototype design that provides meeting spaces to accommodate more than 500 people. There was no need for a pool on the property because of the adjacent waterpark.”
The architect of record is M+A Design in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services is the civil engineer. West Plains Engineering is the MEP engineer. Albertson Engineering is the structural engineer. The hotel is expected to be completed in May 2020.
