The North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) is a private non-profit organization committed to promoting safe work practices throughout the state. Serving thousands each year, their training and education programs deserved a world-class facility where NDSC staff could reach more people with a new and expanded lineup of safety courses taught in a more memorable way.
Consolidated’s team first assisted NDSC in master planning, developing a phased approach to capital improvements that would meet their budget and fundraising requirements. The new NDSC campus includes a nearly 5,000 square foot hands-on training lab featuring a rescue tower and equipment to be utilized during high-level fall protection, confined space rescue, rope rescue and safe scaffold assembly courses. The facility also incorporates distance learning, a 30-person computer lab, equipment simulators and mobile training units.

Mott-Regent’s new elementary school replaced their 107-year-old building and shares spaces with the existing high school, including a new cafeteria, kitchen, common area, and library. Consolidated was also hired to renovate their existing high school. The renovation included a new ITV room and a special education room. The new campus also has centralized administration offices and a centralized mechanical room.
“I joined Mott‐Regent Public School District shortly after passage of our $8.7 million bond referendum. The communities of Mott and Regent had mixed opinions on the measure, so all eyes were on us as we embarked on our project. Consolidated’s team has been highly proactive in working with our school board, staff and parents to gain community support of the referendum, keep the project on schedule and under budget, and create a safe construction environment around an active school. They even went so far as to institute a safety protocol long before construction began in order to get students and faculty accustomed to the changes and establish safe habits. They’ve also been creative in finding ways to reduce costs with subcontractor negotiations and volunteer labor. Working directly with Consolidated, my school board and I have a clear understanding of current activities and project status, thanks to regular reports and communication that have us all in synchronicity. This 81-room, 45,000 square foot hotel in Rochester, Minnesota is the second of its kind: half a MainStay Suites and the other half a Sleep Inn. The concept joins two brands in one building to maximize cost efficiency in construction and operations. It also offers amenities of both brands to guests, allowing the hotel to meet the needs of nearly any travel occasion.
“This is my fifth new hotel build in many years. The Sleep Inn/MainStay combo was a new concept for Choice and myself. Right from the beginning, I received lots of help from the team at Consolidated. They knew it was going to be more complex than a typical hotel build, unifying the two brands together into one building. It wasn’t easy. They navigated a rigorous permitting and inspection process that helped keep the project moving forward and stay on budget. When it was all said and done, I’d describe this project as one of my best building experiences.”
Unsure whether it would be more prudent to renovate or build new, Consolidated Construction assisted Dairyland Electrical Industries in weighing their options and analyzing associated costs and benefits. Ultimately, Dairyland decided to build a new 11,350 square foot production facility in Pound, Wisconsin to complement and expand their existing operations.

Dane Manufacturing first hired Consolidated Construction to design and build an addition and associated renovations to its existing manufacturing facility in Dane, Wisconsin. Construction quality was especially important to Dane, as they had experienced many issues with previous work by other contractors. Consolidated’s self-perform capabilities in concrete and steel erection fit the bill. Cost, schedule and quality can all be held to the highest standards when work is completed by our in-house crews.

Werner Electric Supply chose Consolidated Construction to complete the design/ build process and manage all aspects of the construction of the new 64,648 square foot office building and 197,417 square foot RDC.
Not only did the new facility grow in size from Werner Electric Supply’s previous headquarters, it added additional infrastructure and technological advancements to help the company run more efficiently and better serve its customers.

Sundance Apartments is a 108-unit, 165,000 square foot complex in Bismarck, North Dakota. Featuring upscale features and amenities suitable for young professionals and families, it answers the demand for those flocking to the area in search of new opportunities. That same demand for housing, however, and the shortage of skilled craftsmen presented new challenges for the project team to overcome. Tenacity and ingenuity won out, however, and the team delivered the project on time, and with a 9% reduction in cost thanks to value engineering and steadfast negotiation.

The oil boom in North Dakota increased the need for several refineries in the area. Consolidated Construction provided the design and construction of six major auxiliary buildings, including administration, laboratory, maintenance, fire fighting, electrical utilities and wastewater treatment for the 318-acre Dakota Prairie Refinery campus.

The Country Inn & Suites in Decorah, Iowa underwent a sizable remodel and expansion to give the hotel a more modern look. Twenty extra rooms were added and over 27,000 square feet of the existing hotel were renovated. The hotel continued normal guest operations during construction.
