4/2017 Consolidated Construction Acquires Vincent Wood Works, Hires Project Manager
Appleton, Wis. (April 17, 2017) – Consolidated Construction Co. Inc., a full-service design/build firm headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, announces it has acquired Vincent Wood Works Inc. of Story City, Iowa, a national installation firm specializing in hotel fixtures, doors, frames, hardware, millwork, cabinets, granite, bath hardware and more. Additionally, seven Vincent Wood Works employees remain with the company as Consolidated Construction employees.
Brian Vincent, founder and former president of Vincent Wood Works Inc., becomes a voting shareholder of Consolidated Construction and has been appointed to its board of directors. Vincent will continue to oversee operations as director of a new division within Consolidated Construction, Vincent Interior Systems (VIS).
“We have long subcontracted Vincent Wood Works and have continually been impressed with Brian’s caliber of work and reputation in the industry,” said Rick Bickert, Consolidated Construction CEO. “He is an astute business leader and we feel fortunate to add Brian to our board of directors and VIS to our portfolio of services.”
Key functions of VIS will include carpentry and installation of interior systems that take place near the final stages of construction. Quality installation of fixtures and finishes ensures a pleasant and comfortable environment for guests and residents. Expertise is required to ensure timely material shipments, quality control and attention to detail, and strict coordination of work schedules to maintain target opening dates. Furthermore, adherence to hotel brand standards and safety protocol is paramount.
“Adding VIS to Consolidated Construction’s range of services heightens our ability to complete projects on time and on budget,” said Bickert. “It has internalized and streamlined project finishing, making it more seamless for our customers.”
In addition to performing work on Consolidated Construction’s hotel, multi-family residential and senior living projects, VIS will be available for interior systems contracts to outside clients on the open market.
“Completing this acquisition allows my team to diversify into the multi-family residential and senior living markets, while we provide greater continuity and coordination for Consolidated Construction’s projects” Vincent said. “With the additional resources of Consolidated Construction’s support, we can include more technology, supplement crews and add services to ebb and flow with nationwide construction trends.”
VIS is currently active in numerous projects with Consolidated Construction, including the 80,000 square foot Cadillac Jack’s Gaming Resort renovation in Deadwood, S.D., and the 126-unit Park Creek Independent Living facility in Cypress, Tex.
In addition to the acquisition, Consolidated Construction hired Joy Hamons as project manager for VIS. Hamons is a 25-year veteran of hospitality architecture, interior design and project management. Most recently, she was principal of The Hamons Group of Cincinnati, where she led hotel property improvement and capital expenditure construction projects nationwide.
“Joy’s role will be critical to managing communication and identifying and maintaining important milestones in the construction process,” Vincent said. “Her combination of architecture, interior design and hospitality project management experience is well-respected in the industry. Developers recognize her skill in translating architectural drawings to project logistics as well as keeping activities on schedule, on budget and according to plan.”
Hamons holds a degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington and is proficient in AutoCAD, project scheduling and hospitality furniture, fixtures and equipment procurement.
