11/2018 Consolidated Construction Enters Georgia Market in Delicious Fashion

Appleton-based construction firm hired to build interior renovation and expansion of De Wafelbakkers breakfast food processing plant near Atlanta

Consolidated Construction Co. Inc., a full-service design/build firm headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, will be expanding their horizons as they head to the Atlanta, GA area for a renovation/expansion project for De Wafelbakkers, LLC., a leading producer of frozen pancakes, mini-pancakes, waffles, waffle sticks, and shelf stable waffles.

The facility upgrade in Georgia will allow the company to expand its product offerings to include pre-cooked, microwavable, frozen French toast. The project will consist of two distinct efforts. For the renovation, 12,720 sq. ft. of process space that currently supports pancake production will be reconfigured to enable the company to produce French toast. For the expansion, a new 10,395 sq. ft. addition will be constructed and will include a freezer building, bread storage facility, as well as loading docks and a receiving bay.

Not only is this the first project for Consolidated Construction in Georgia, it also represents a unique challenge in construction methodology.

“The biggest challenge is the renovation and new construction will take place at a fully operational food production facility with stringent food safety regulations in place,” said Jeremy Walker, Strategic Account Manager with Consolidated Construction. “We will be cutting and replacing concrete, installing underground plumbing and working with other potential contaminants, so we will be taking great food-safe precautions to ensure the production areas are clean and safe.”
