05/2011: Dale Nelsen Design Studio Dedicated

Appleton, WI (May 4, 2011) – Consolidated Construction Company will hold a special dedication ceremony on Friday May 6, 2011, of its newly updated, internal design center.

The center houses the firm’s architectural staff and provides technology and space for collaborative building design between clients and staff. The new design center is dedicated to the late Dale Nelsen, a longtime Consolidated Construction architect, who passed away after a difficult battle with cancer in May, 2009. Nelsen’s family, including his wife Debbie and their children, will be in attendance for the ribbon cutting. Nelsen’s architectural hand sketches from many years ago decorate the walls of the center, co-mingled with high-tech renderings of today.

The Dale Nelsen Design Center features an interactive collaboration area with 52” Building Information Modeling (BIM) monitor. Architects and clients will have the opportunity to view project blueprints, renderings and 3D models, and subsequently “design on the fly” to make architectural changes virtually prior to construction.

Curtis Schroeder, AIA, Consolidated’s Director of Architectural Services, is enthusiastic about the benefits of this technology for his clients. “Not only will this allow for better educated decision-making and visualization of building projects, it will unquestionably lead to lower risk and lower costs. People become more engaged in the design process when they can call the shots early and get exactly the building that they need and the look they always wanted,” he states.
